Hi Diabetes,

You came out of nowhere. Shocked us all beyond belief. I let you think you had won, but that was only the beginning.

Had you never come into my life, I would have missed out on so many great opportunities. My experiences have allowed me to walk beside those newly diagnosed and others who are close to me. I have gotten the chance to educate those around me about the differences in types of diabetes. I have been stopped in the grocery store to give my opinion on my Dexcom G7 by health care workers and diabetics searching for their own answers. I’ve been able to share my story and experiences across social media platforms through the Dexcom Warrior Program. I’ve connected with some incredible people who happen to be on similar journeys as myself. And I have done the things I once thought impossible like running the New York City Marathon and having 2 healthy pregnancies.

You thought you had won and gotten me down. But the joke is on you. You gave me strength and a voice to make change and support those around me and those to come. Thanks for being a catalyst for the new version of me!

Devon G.

Back to the letters

A letter to diabetes.

If you could say anything to diabetes, what would you say?

A Letter to Diabetes creates a space for people around the world to put into words how they feel about their diabetes journey.

This is about everything you’ve wanted to say, but haven’t found the words.

A letter to diabetes

Throughout November, we’re inviting you to share your letter to diabetes. Whether you live with diabetes, are a caregiver, a healthcare professional, or simply love someone with diabetes, we want to hear your story.

Share it any way that feels authentic to you, through photos, audio, video, or a handwritten letter.

Stories will be reviewed before posting, and while we value every submission, not all stories will be published.
